MEMORIAL DAY 2006

In the movie, Farewell To The King, there is one of the most poignant and ironic
statements on warfare.
On an island in the pacific, which the Japanese soldiers had taken over, there was
a village of peaceful and peace-loving natives.
The English military trained these peaceful natives in warfare, teaching them how to
use guns (which they had never seen before). The English wanted the natives to mount
an attack against the Japanese.
The English captain in charge said, "We're bringing Westen civiliztion to thes
savages."
