I heard two nurses speak just today of their missionary work in Africa. They spoke of the unbelievable contrasts to our own health system. Very moving presentation. We have much to be thankful for, even though we complain! Then your statistic on Africa made me realize how far away all these problems seem to be for me. I think I become hardened with all the articles I read on the problems of getting the food dispersed in Africa due to the political strife.
There is no oil there, so no gain for the West. Therefore, the West is not going to do much. Africa is place of a terrible human tragedy. The leaders of these countries steal for themslves, and the weak are dying. Here people eat themslves to death, they cannot walk because of obesity, they throw food away, while so many die of hunger. What to do?? How can I help? What about our government? I do not have the answers, but I wish I could help.
